The Top 10 Best Utility Cards in Urban Rivals

Gheist - Leviatonn
In the online card game Urban Rivals, you don't always need characters with the most complicated abilities to gain a significant advantage. Sometimes, the simplest utility cards with straightforward abilities like Stop Opponent Ability or Stop Opponent Bonus can make or break someone's game. The key here is to know which cards are poor, which ones are decent, and which ones are absolutely essential in your deck.

10. Tomas - You can't go wrong with a 5-star Skeelz card with 8/6 stats and Stop Opponent Bonus as an ability. Among the 5-star options in the Skeelz clan, he's definitely a keeper. It's also true that old man Caelus is a better choice over-all but if you're weighing in the fact that Tomas won't be ELO-banned anytime soon, picking Tomas over Caelus is almost a no-brainer.

9. Glorg - Who wouldn't want a stable stop-all card in their decks? At 4-stars, Glorg has 6/6 stats, Stop Opponent Ability for an ability and being from the Nightmare clan, he has Stop Opponent Bonus for a bonus as well. He is one of those annoying stop-all cards which can be tough to overcome especially if the character facing this grim stone monster is ability or bonus-dependent. Glorg's not unsinkable by any standard, but most of the time he's very useful.

8. Shakra - It's not hard to imagine how newbies would shake in their boots the minute they first encounter a card like Shakra. The guy's an 8/6 stop-all card! Sure, his ability is courage based and he had to be played first in order to have the actual stop-all effect so to speak, but still he's terrifying in all other aspects. For that reason alone, he can be used as a first turn bluff and if the player succeeds, the next three rounds will be smooth sailing from there.

7. Kerry - The Rescue clan's bonus is one of the better bonuses out there and with Kerry's courage-based Stop Opponent Bonus ability, the clan's +12 Attack bonus (provided it's a Rescue mono-deck) is magnified even more. It can be argued that her 6/6 stats puts her with the rest of the 4-star cards with similar skills but Kerry has proven time and time again how valuable she is to her clan.

6. Striker - Hot on the heels of Kerry is another 4-star 6/6 card, this time from the sports-centric All-Stars clan. Again, just as Kerry is important to Rescue, Striker has been a staple card for most All-Stars decks (along with Jessie and Marina). His ability is Stop Opponent Ability and that makes him virtually a double threat, not only as a utility card but also as a "striker" (pardon the pun). He could easily be top-tier being a significant force behind All-Stars domination of Type 1 and ELO in the years past but sadly, he's been losing steam as the game further developed.

5. Yayoi - Speaking of threatening characters, here's Yayoi: a 4-star 7/6 card from the Pussycats clan with Stop Opponent Ability. Her skills can be used in a variety of ways: for defense, being part of the clan with a damage-reduction bonus; for offense, because her stats are just that phenomenal for a 4-star; and as a kicker, for game-changing blindsides. This card is perfect for players who prefer mind games over brute strength. It's often difficult to figure out how much pills a player will spend on the card.

4. Leviatonn - ask any player building GHEIST decks which GHEIST card he or she would consider to be the most important, and most of the time they will say Leviatonn. This 3-star card wouldn't look threatening at first glance, but considering his 6/5 stats and his "stop-all" skill set, he actually puts the previous cards to shame. It is the card's economic star count which truly shines here, plain and simple. 3-stars would mean that Leviatonn will win all even-pilled battles against cards with 6 power provided they have heftier star counts.

3. Lehane - This card is so high up in the list yet it has measly 2 damage? Is this a joke? Not really. There are so many things going for her: One is her ability: Stop Opponent Bonus. Then there's the fact that she has 8 power thus enabling her to pummel through so many cards in the game. If that's not enough, she's just a 2-star card and she's part of the well-balanced Sentinels clan. There was once a time when the Sentinel's Hawk/Lehane combo would intimidate most players but when Hawk got banned for good, Lehane is left to her own devices. A Sentinels deck will not be the same without Lehane.

2. Vickie Cr - Vickie has primarily been the cause of grief of so many UR players in the past, especially in daily tournaments. You ask, what's so scary with 7/8 stats, Stop Opponent Bonus, and -12 Opponent Attack, Minimum 8? Well, what's not scary about it? There's probably a good reason why she became a collector. She's just THAT good.

And the best utility card in the game? Drumrolls, please.

1. Jackie - Here we have one of the most overpowered cards in the game and it's not surprising that she comes from the elitist Uppers clan. 4-stars with 8/6 stats and Stop Opponent Ability? Hawk has the same stats, his bonus is slightly inferior, and add to that, he is a 5-star card! The major difference is astounding. Simply put, Jackie will eat up any kind of opponent facing her. (Or technically "him", if you have read the character's background.)

Something's not right here. Where's Lyse Teria, one would ask.

Special mention: Lyse Teria Cr - If Vickie is the reigning queen of Stop Opponent Bonus, who is the reigning queen of Stop Opponent Ability? Well, she's from the same clan as Vickie (Montana) and she's also a Collector card worth millions of clintz! That's right. 3-star 8/4 Stop Opponent Ability card, Lyse Teria Cr. Most players aim for this card not just for the reason that it's so cool to own one of the rarest cards in UR... OK, considering she's permanently banned in ELO, maybe they do. Putting her in the number 1 spot instead of Jackie is subject to debate mostly because only a few people own a Lyse Teria Cr card. That's just the sad truth.
